notes:
Charles Montagu, 1st earl of Halifax (1661-1715), became a lord of the Treasury in 1691, and Chancellor of the Exchequer in 1694. He became Lord Halifax in 1701. This print was made from a painting by Sir Godfrey Kneller which is presently on display at Beningbrough Hall, England.
