Kanagagota (Oconstota or Cumnacatogue) or Stalking Turkey, a Cherokee chief, was one of three Cherokee chiefs who traveled to England in 1762 to see King George III. This print was made from a painting by Frances Parsons titled, "Cunne Shote." and now in the Gilcrease Museum collection. This image is one of only a few life portraits created in the 18th century of native Americans and one of only two relating to southern native American tribes of North America. Title inscribed on verso of print.
