Description:
Torture of native Americans in North America and South America. At top men with pipes watch while the captive is burned with hatchet blades heated in a fire. At bottom, the captive tied with a rope is beaten with a ceremonial club. Cultural artifacts include shield, feathered headdresses and ornaments, pots, and ropes.
