Robert Cavelier, sieur de la Salle, was assasinated by Pierre Duhault in 1687 near present-day Navasota, Texas. Two men lay in ambush for him. This image shows the moment Duhault shot his musket at La Salle, mortally wounding him. Text describes the murder, as well as the actions of La Salle's companion, Father Anastasius.
