Description:
Sebastián de Aparicio kneels before an altar with a cross while demons or devils torment him with bellows, a forked spear, and taunt him by making faces. In the background devils pull the covers off of his bed while he kneels before an altar, and a winged devil flies down a fireplace. Includes devils with animal faces, devil in the form of a cat or other monster and an aspergillum and ewer for sprinkling holy water for asperges.

Born in Spain, Sebastián de Aparicio traveled to Mexico where he made a substantial fortune building roads and the carriages or carts to carry goods on the roads. At age 70, he joined the Franciscan order as a lay brother or tertiary and was known as the Angel of Mexico. He was beatified in 1787.
