Allegorical figures of a man representing time and a woman representing the navigational arts are placed before scenes of Greenland. Men kill a polar bear that is trying to eat a man. Also includes erupting volcanoes and scene of whaling with ships, boats, and sea lions or seals. Includes angels or putti carrying a narwhal tusk, harpoons, spear, and rope, an angel with a trumpet and laurel wreath, a sea god or triton with fish tail and horn, and navigational instruments such as dividers, backstaff, globe and chart.
