notes:
This image illustrates the story of a black slave who was too old and blind to work. He was put out to fend for himself, but was rescued by the parents of the boy who also cared for and converted him. The boy's father died, but his mother, having been believed shipwrecked, was reunited with her son at the end of the story. The engraver is probably Rest Fenner, fl. 1830-ca. 1836, but active earlier in publishing.
