The men accompanying her would play instruments like trumpets but hung with discs to produce a better sound.This image derived from Theodor de Bry, America, part 2, plates 37 & 38, and follows the special title page for Verscheyde scheeps-togten na Florida, door Pontius, Ribald, Laudonniere, Gourgues en andere: Gedaan Anno 1562 ... , Leiden, 1706. This collection of voyages consists of 127 parts, each having a special title page, separate pagination, and register. The voyages covering the period from 1246 to 1696 are arranged chronologically.
