notes:
P. H. Egede was the son of Hans Poulsen Egede; both were missionaries. He spent most of his life in Greenland until poor health forced him to retire to Denmark pemanently in 1740. He then instructed missionaries intending to go to Greenland. He spoke the Greenland Inuits' language like a native and translated parts of the Bible into Icelandic. This book is a history of the Greenland missions from their beginning to 1788.
