Igloolik (or Iglulik) is near the Melville Peninsula in presetn-day Nunavut, northern Canada.Lyon served as captain of the Hecla during Parry's second arctic expedition of 1821-23 in search of a northwest passage. The expedition reached the Fury and Hecla Strait between Baffin Island and Melville Peninsula in northern Canada. Lyon had previously disguised himself as a Muslim in order to explore the interior of Africa.Image placed horizontally on page.
