Joseph Paul Gaimard, a ship's surgeon and naturalist, was the scientific leader on La Recherche (1835-1836) during its expedition to the Arctic Sea and voyages to Iceland and Greenland. Scientific name: Trachipterus arcticus [?]. This species is found predominantly in the North Atlantic ocean. They inhabit the deep seas and are rarely encountered by humans.
