This sculpture is Stele F and is located in in the Plaza de las Estellas. It was built for Waxaklajuun Ub'aah K'awiil (18 Rabbit) and is dated October 13, 721 A.D. Catherwood, an English artist and architect, explored the ruins of the Maya civilization and meticulously drew them using a camera lucida. Catherwood and his colleague, John Lloyd Stephens, are credited with the "rediscovery" of the Maya.
