In April 1781, the French conquered Tobago from the British. When the French started to burn down plantations, the British under Lieutenant-general George Ferguson were forced to surrender.Issued to commemorate the French military role in the American Revolution, this collection was one of the first few contemporary publications to illustrate scenes from that conflict.
