Sugar production. Built environment includes open-sided evaporating furnace, grinding mill driven by oxen, forms for sugar loaves, dwellings for the black workers, and a stone dwelling. Botanical details include stand of sugar canes, banana tree, "choux caraibes," coconut trees. Black men [slaves] work under supervision of man with stick. Items in the image are lettered for identification in a key below.
