Text describes a freshwater fish armored like an armadillo. Title is from marginal gloss. Thevet, a Franciscan monk, traveled to Brazil with Nicolas Durand, chevalier de Villegagnon, stayed only ten weeks, and wrote Les singularitez from his own observations and those of others.
