A member of the Order of the Buena Muerte and known for his interest in botany, González Laguna advocated the post-mortem removal of fetuses from the wombs of deceased women in order to carry out the baptism of those unborn children. His determination to do so was sparked by events during the Tupac Katari Rebellion of 1780-1781.
