Sor Maria de Jesus de Agreda wrote the work, The city of God, a history of the Virgin Mary. She also reported that she had a memory of over five hundred spiritual visits to the various tribes of the American southwest during which time she converted the whole Indian population to Christianity without physically leaving Spain.
