Description:
[top] Plan of the town of Cap François on the island of Saint Domingue, present-day Haiti. [bottom left]. Men of Chile wearing ponchos. [bottom right] Manner of killing beasts or hunting in Chile. Includes (1) a quarry or shell midden, a man killing an animal with a hatchet, a pajaro niño or penguin (3), sea wolves or sea lions (4), enclosure in which they confine the beasts intended to be slaughtered (5), and a guaso, or gaucho on horseback, lassoing cattle (6).
