View of Fort George on Tobago including a view of the harbor and settlement. In the foreground, a black [slave] woman carries a load on her head. A black [slave] speaks to a European in a plumed hat. Also includes agave or maguey plant, coconut palm, cacti, fortifications, ships, mill, and dwellings.
notes:
Fort King George, built by the British in 1770, overlooks the town and harbor of Scarborough on Tobago.Engraver is probably Thomas Medland, 1755-c.1823, a well-known British engraver of views.
