Text describes the Powhatan, leader of the Powhatan federation of Indians that occupied Virginia in the early seventeenth century. The image of the king in his court is taken from John Smith's Map of Virginia. A reprint of some parts of Adriaen van der Donck, Vertoogh [van Nieu-Neder-Land, 1650] and of the second edition of Joannes de Laet [Beschrijvinghe van West-Indien, 1630]. To these have been added the treatise on the Mohawks, Johannes Megapolensis, Een kort ontwerp vande Mahakvase Indianen, t'Alckmaer, [1644?].
