notes:
The plate accompanies an article on the barbarity of the Spaniards taken from the writing of Bartholomé de las Casas. Revere copied the plate from the London Magazine, Dec. 1771, vol. 40, p. 610. Image is placed horizontally on page. This issue was the first brought out by Joseph Greenleaf, having taken over publication of the magazine by Isaiah Thomas. The magazine was produced from January 1774 until April 1775 when the war put an end to publication.
