The First Presbyterian Church was built between 1793 and 1794 from designs by John Trumbull and demolished about 1822. High Street was also called Market Street because of the sheds seen to the left of this image. The name Market Street was made official by an ordinance of 1858, a year before the market sheds were ordered to be removed.
