notes:
In 1614 the Dutch East India Company and the States-General commissioned Joris van Spilbergen to sail to the Moluccas via the Strait of Magellan. Six heavily-armed ships and about 700 men left the Netherlands on a voyage to circumnavigate the world; one ship deserted before the Strait was passed. After successfully passing through the Strait of Magellan, the ships first stopped at Isla Mocha.
