Narrative description:
Investment schemes. [The world is a stage; everyone acts his part and gets his portion.] Resembling the stage of a theater with Time drawing back the curtain and the center scene showing the players advancing on a devil. Above them is an assembly of gods with Justice and Mercury pleading with Jupiter. Includes monsters, the peddler, Bombario, the coat of arms of Leiden and Haarlem, a beehive, coins, an overthrown world with “Missisppi” [Mississippi] marked on it, a mousetrap, a goose, bubbles, and a mirror. Surrounding the central scene are 10 vignettes showing the establishment of the Mississippi and the West India companies, a fishery company in Enkhuizen and including ships, black men and/or slaves and/or native Americans, as well as men landing on exotic shores.
