Blome had previously published a small octavo volume entitled A description of the island of Jamaica, London, 1672, containing a finely etched map of Jamaica [lacking in the JCB copy], performed by Hollar, and this derivative of the rare Hilton map of the Carolinas. The volume was subsequently re-printed by Dorman Newman, in 1678 and 1687, the latter edition now called The present state of His Majesties isles and territories in America, with the text greatly expanded, and adding a set of maps acquired from Morden, previously used in the First Edition of the latter's Geography rectified, London, 1680.
