Cartobibliographic notes:
The view of Mexico City is one of a number derived ultimately from a view of the city prepared by Juan Gomez de Trasmonte in 1628. Trasmonte's view first appeared as part of an unpublished atlas created by Johannes Vingboons, and it was published by Montanus in 1671. According to Kagan, it was the first rendering of the city to depart from the map view used since the time of Cortes.
