Historical notes:
This map was directly copied from Gerhard Mercator's double-cordiform polar map of 1538. The engraver's initials are perhaps included above the medaillon portrait of Antonio Florian, "I.F.C." for Joannes Franciscus Camotius or Giovanni Francesco Camocio [?] or perhaps "P.C." for Paolo Cimerlino who in 1566 re-engraved the cordiform world map of Finé.
