Cartobibliographic notes:
This manuscript map is in the style of the Thames school, although the particular cartographer who made it is not known. The surveyor is known to have made the official survey of Staten Island and to have made a map of Long Island now in the collection of the New-York Historical Society.The Blathwayt Atlas is a collection of 48 maps assembled between 1680 and 1685 as a reference atlas for the Office of Trade and Plantations, compiled by William Blathwayt, Secretary to the Lords of Trade and Plantations.
