General Note:
Title from caption and first paragraph of text.; Dated at foot of broadside: Fecha en la ciudad de los Reyes del Perú, en [blank]; Despite the fact that Clement the XIV is mentioned as currently governing, Clement the XIV seems not to have issued any bulls calling for a crusade. However, a Papal bull calling for a crusade was issued by Pope Pius VI in December of 1778, according to "Historia de la bula de la Santa Cruzada" / by José Fernández Llamazares, published in Madrid, 1859.; Concerning the publication of a Papal bull granting indulgences to those who took part in the crusades against Muslims, pagans or sometimes heretics. Martínez Compañón later served as Bishop of Trujillo, Peru, from 1779 to 1790, and as Archbishop of Bogotà, New Granada, from 1790 to 1797.; Text of broadside printed in two parallel columns separated by woodcut ornaments.
