Attributed to Martin Howard by Alden.; Signatures: [A]⁴ B-D⁴ (D4 verso blank); Errors in paging: p. 30, 31 misnumbered 31, 30.; Replying to two criticisms of the author's "Letter": one in the Providence Gazette of Feb. 23, Mar. 2 and 9, and Apr. 8, 1765 [by Stephen Hopkins]; the other a pamphlet, "Vindication of the British colonies against the aspersions of the Halifaax gentleman" [by James Otis]; "Although Evans (entry 10013), Hammett (p. 67), and Winship (p. 20), describe a variant issue in the John Carter Brown Library, the piece itself is, in the opinion of Mr. Lawrence C. Wroth, merely an imperfect copy, lacking the last two leaves which have been supplied in type facsimile."--Alden.
