Title from caption and first paragraph of text.; Place of publication and name of printer from foot of broadsheet.; Signed and dated at end of proclamation: Conselho militar em Montevideo 29 de junhio de 1822. Barão da Laguna, presidente [and eight others]; In 1821, the Eastern Province of the Río de la Plata (present-day Uruguay), was annexed by Brazil under the name of Província Cisplatina. The document recommends that the province should give their allegiance to the Portuguese crown rather than to the newly independent Brazilian state.
