Séance des quinze & seize avril mil sept cent quatre-vingt-dix.": p. 4.; Signatures: [A]²; Bacon de la Chevalerie and his fellow patriots were responsible for forcing Barbé de Marbois, the last French intendant, from the colony of Saint-Domingue. The author, owner of a large sugar plantation in Limonade, and president of the Assemblée générale, a body comprised of land owners and citizens of the Northern, Southern, and Western parts of the colony, writes this incendiary speech to defend the Assemblée against those in France who would seek to bleed Saint-Domingue of its resources and its wealth at the expense of the citizens of Saint-Domingue.
