notes:
|
Bernard Romans engraved this eyewitness protrayal of the Battle of Bunker Hill. He also helped produce an important group of maps of the Revolutionary period. Romans, a British surveyor active in New York and Florida, joined the colonial forces during the American Revolution. Later he planned fortifications on the Hudson River, and made maps of the region around the Hudson Highlands.
