Description: 
Sebastian de Aparicio attempts to get out of bed and kneel down to partake of the Holy Sacrament. One monk helps him to his feet while another lights candles before an altar in the room. Outside the door a priest holding a chalice approaches the infirmary. Includes a parasol or umbrella held over the Sacrament, flag, crucifix, flowers on the altar, and tapers. In the background an angel plays a violin or musical instrument for the sick and dying man.

Born in Spain, Sebastian de Aparicio traveled to Mexico where he made a substantial fortune building roads and the carriages or carts to carry goods on the roads. At age 70, he joined the Franciscan order as a lay brother or tertiary and was known as the Angel of Mexico. He was beatified in 1787.
