notes:
Text describes how Peter Carder and his companion, William Pitcher, were stranded on a beach without any water and very little food. After they had made a raft for themselves, they poled themselves to a stream of fresh water. Pitcher overendulged in drinking the fresh water and died. Carder buried him as best he could in the sand and eventually came upon a village of native Americans he calls Tuppin Basse [Tupinamba?]. This image follows the special title page for Kort verhaal van Pieter Carder ... behelzende ... met Francois Drake overgekomen ... , Leiden, 1706. This collection of voyages consists of 127 parts, each having a special title page, separate pagination, and register. The voyages covering the period from 1246 to 1696 are arranged chronologically.
