Text describes how Hans Staden claimed to foretell the future and told the Indian chief or leader who lived in the nearby village 'Arirab' (probably Cairussú) that his village would be attacked. The Tupinamba, also known as the Tuppin Imba or Tupi, did attack; Staden was given a bow and arrow to help defend the village and hoped for the opportunity to escape and join the attackers who were friendly with the Portuguese. This image is similar to one found in Hans Staden, Warhaftige Historia ..., Marburg, 1557, but is probably derived from Theodor de Bry, America, part 3 , p. 52. It follows the special title page for Hans Staden, De voorname Scheeps-togten van Jan Staden van Homburg in Hessen, na Brazil ... , Leiden, 1706. This collection of voyages consists of 127 parts, each having a special title page, separate pagination, and register. The voyages covering the period from 1246 to 1696 are arranged chronologically.
