The La Recherche Expedition of 1835-1836 was an expedition of the Commission scientifique du Nord. These volumes were published to report on her voyages to Iceland and Greenland. Thingvellir or Þingvellir lies in a rift valley that marks the crest of the mid-Atlantic crest.
