notes:
Farissol's work is the first mention of the discovery of the New World in Hebrew and this crude "map" represents his depiction of the new area of habitation found by Christopher Columbus in 1492. He describes Columbus's men sailing along its shores; seeing "its exceeding large size, they called it, because of its great length and breadth, 'The New World.'"
