Anchieta, known as the Apostle of Brazil, was a Jesuit who worked among the native Americans of Brazil and was one of the co-founders of São Paulo. A poet and playwright, he was also known for his ability to preach to the animals.The engraver may be Carlo Grandi, an engraver active in the early eighteenth century.
