notes:
May depict the Dutch attempt to fire the Spanish Admiral's ship. After Admiral Jacob L'Hermite's death on 2 June 1624, the Dutch decided against another attack on Callao.Prince Maurice of Nassau ordered the voyage, commanded by Admiral Jacob L'Hermite (or Jacques L'Hermite), as an expedition against Spain. The fleet circumnavigated the globe.Book is attributed to Jacques l'Hermite, Joannes van Walbeeck, and Adolf Decker. Joannes (or Johan) van Walbeeck (or Walbeek) was the mathematician of the fleet. Gerritsz was Verschoor's secretary, and Decker was captain of marines during the expedition. Julius Wilhelm Van Verschoor was rear admiral of the fleet. The same image appears in Iournalen van drie voyagien... published in Amsterdam, 1643.
