George Anson, Baron Anson, was given orders by the Admiralty to raid Spanish possessions along the South American coast and to disrupt their trade, was famous for the sacking of Paita, Peru. The town was taken with only one man killed and the inhabitants fled without dressing, so that the sailors breaking into their houses, seized their clothes and paraded about in them, some in women's clothes.
