Text describes the execution of a Portuguese man in Recife, Brazil, who was found to have a letter for the Dutch with espionage information. When the letter was intercepted and the execution ordered, the man declared that if he was put to death, the execution would be interrupted. Accordingly a whirlwind arose knocking people to the ground and sending hats flying.
