The description of the plate in the Table of Contents identifies the hill as being seen from Botofogo. Corcovado Hill today is the foundation for the iconic statute of Christ or Cristo Redentor blessing Rio de Janeiro. The author of the book and artist of this image was married to Captain Thomas Graham and traveling to South America when he died on the voyage. She married the artist, Augustus Wall Callcott, in 1828. Date on item is: 25, March, 1824.
