notes:
Born Marie Guyart and married to Claude Martin, Marie de l'Incarnation joined the Ursuline order in 1631 after husband's death. She traveled to Canada in 1639, and established an Ursuline order in Quebec and opened the first school in New France. She wrote numerous dictionaries and texts (now lost) in native American languages. This book, a collection of a relation of her life and her letters, was published by her son. The engraver is probably Jean Edelinck, 1643-1680. The printer is probably Pierre Mariette II, 1634-1716.
