Title from key on p. 232. Champlain probably drew the original from which the engraving was made. The battle, which the Iroquois lost, took place on July 29, 1609. The Iroquois, on the right, defend a small, fenced fort while the other group, composed of Algonquians, Hurons, and Montagnais, is supported by three Frenchmen with guns.
