Description:
|
Title is framed by an aedicula on which native Americans, man, woman, and child, eat human limbs. At bottom is a scene of cannibalism with limbs cooking over a fire. Two men in attitudes of supplication kneel at top, facing an image of the moon. Cultural artifacts include feathered headdress and ornaments, as well as a war club.

De Bry included in this volume the account of Hans Staden, Wahrhaftige Historia ... in der Newenwelt America gelegen, Marburg, 1557, and Jean de Léry, Histoire d'un voyage fait en la terre du Brésil, La Rochelle, 1578, as well as two letters by Nicolas Barré dated 1552.
