notes:
|
One of the most notorious pirates of his day, Roberts, known as Black Bart, practiced piracy off of the coast of Brazil and in the Caribbean where he was said to have captured over a hundred ships. This work is often attributed to Defoe based on textual relationship to works of Defoe's proven authorship together with supporting external evidence. It also has also been attributed to Charles Johnson.
