View of the margin of a dry salt lake with mountains in the distance. Original title was: "Sketch from Sathe road looking south between Santa Maria & the Sand Hills." "Sathe" was a misinterpretation of an erasure on the drawing. The Santa Maria here refers to a river and the sand hills are the Samalayuca sand dunes about 35 miles south of Ciudad Juárez.
