|
View of the mercury [quicksilver] mines at New Almaden. The milling complex, known as Hacienda de Beneficio (Hacienda Reduction Works), is shown along a narrow valley bottom above Alamitos Creek. The raw ore is brought in on packs carried by a mule train and teams of oxen carry wagons full of mercury uphill.
