Narrative description: 
View of mountains. The title, "Organ Mountains, New Mexico," appears on the verso in pencil. There is no date or signature. It was first sketched on the south bank of the main gully that drains Fillmore Canyon. Bartlett wrote, "[I] took a sketch of these mountains and of the defile through which I had passed. A small stream flowed near us, marked by a line of fine large oaks." Personal Narrative, vol. 2, p. 394.
